.          In an atmosphere driven by progress, diversity, and fusion, Samaa was born at UNC Chapel Hill to create harmony between western and eastern cultures. Our co-ed acappella group combines everything from pop to alternative with traditional Indian and Bollywood music using only voices as instruments. Every arrangement is written and performed by our own team, whose vocal abilities range from classically trained to those who just love to sing.

.          Founded in 2011, the group gained momentum quickly. As the only South Asian acappella group in the state, people are always excited and curious to hear us perform! Performing for UNC’s student community as well as the greater Triangle Area, Samaa has developed a reputation for fusion and fun. Our annual spring concert, first held in 2013, has become our campus showcase for the music we’ve developed during the year.

.          Auditions are held every fall and any UNC Chapel Hill student is welcome to try out! We always look forward to adding fresh voices, different styles, and new personalities to our team.
