Concert This Sunday!

We’re so excited to welcome one and all to our spring concert, Mission: Bollywood Blockbuster! This year, Samaa is headed to Dharma Productions to intern for the one and only, Karan Johar! And that’s not all, but we’re also releasing our second album, Collision!

We’re super excited for an night of laughs, craziness, and amazing music, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Check out the “Concert” page above for more details on tickets, venue, etc.! Also, stay updated by liking our Facebook page.

Surprises coming soon!

The end of the semester may be drawing to a close, but Samaa is still at it in top gear! We’ve got a bunch of awesome stuff to share with everyone, so stay tuned.

This weekend, we’re recording at Nightsound Studios (s/o to Chris and Meghan for being amazing!) for our newest album, which will be ready for y’all in May 2017! We’re also performing at one of UNC’s biggest events, Journey Into Asia! Definitely check us out there.

And of course, we’re all getting ready for finals and holing up in the library. That’s the not-so-fun part :/

Keep an eye out for videos from JIA, more info about our album, and our fun shenanigans as the holidays draw closer!

Love,

Samaa

Let’s get this party started

Hey everyone!

Summer’s over and we couldn’t be more excited to start a new year here at Samaa! As FDOC quickly approaches, we’ve got a few things to look forward to.

We’ll be at FallFest this Sunday, August 21st (Table 273). Come through and hang with us!

And of course, we couldn’t be more excited to seek out the best new talent at UNC with fall auditions. Go to the “Auditions” tab for more information!

We’ve got more than a few super plans for this year, so get ready, get excited, get samaa this!

Coming up…samaa this and samaa that!

Hey everyone!

As textbooks and libraries are replaced with beach trips and internships, summer is HERE! Samaa is gearing up for what promises to be an amazing 2016-2017 season. We have a lot of awesome plans for the upcoming year, and it’s going to be LIT for sure. Over the summer, we’ll be releasing our entire 2015-2016 setlist on our YouTube channel, so be sure to keep an eye out for that! We’re hard at work having Skype meetings, jam sessions, and writing new mixes for next year. Have an awesamaa summer, and get excited for the upcoming year!

Much love,

Samaa

The New Kids

After an exhausting week of auditions and callbacks, we found some amazing additions to our team. Meet Samaa’s newest members!

Sne Parikh is a first-year from Rahway, NC, and is studying health policy and management. His favorite song to sing in the shower is “Let’s Get it On” by Pentatonix, and his guilty pleasure is blasting pop music when no one is around and “getting weird”. This year in Samaa, Sne is excited to make music with such an experienced and cultured group of men and women.

Kaan Peksenar is a sophomore from Raleigh, NC, and is studying economics. His favorite song to sing in the shower is anything by Justin Timberlake or John Legend, and his guilty pleasure is to binge watch Netflix comedies and thrillers on weekends. This year in Samaa, Kaan is excited to get started and to get his first taste of formal musical training!

Sowmya Mangipudi is a junior from Seattle, WA, and is studying health policy and management. Her favorite song to sing in the shower is “Royals” by Lorde, with some Beyoncé occasionally thrown in, and her guilty pleasure is One Tree Hill. This year in Samaa, Sowmya is excited to sing cool mashups and to hang out with a bunch of awesome people!

Jubayer Ahmed is a senior from Garner, NC, and is studying nutrition. He likes to sing anything by Arjit Singh in the shower but his favorite is “Tum Hi Ho”, and his guilty pleasure is eating ice cream, especially when it is stolen from his little brother! This year in Samaa, Jubayer is looking forward to being with a great group who has just as much excitement about music and to be able to experience and see what a cappella truly is.

Welcome to the team! We have loved singing with you guys so far!

Keep checking back here to see what else we get up to this year!

Fall Fest, Baseball and more!

Welcome, all you lovely visitors! First of all, thank you all so much for checking out our website, and we are so excited to share what we’ve got going on with y’all!

We had the great privilege to perform at Mr. and Mrs. Prajapati’s wedding last week! This was so special to us because the groom was none other than the brother of our very own Tini Prajapati. We had a blast performing for them, and we wish the couple success and happiness in their marriage.

And we have even more exciting news for you! Samaa will be presenting an acapella performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the Durham Bulls game versus the Charlotte Knights this Sunday. We are so honored to be given this chance to sing at the game.

But that’s not all! This Sunday is also the day of the famous UNC Fall Fest! We will be performing on the stage at Fall Fest at around 1 AM, so if you’ll be around South Road, make sure you check us out! We will also be around before our performance to recruit for our Fall Auditions. If you are a UNC student and love to sing, we want to hear you! You can learn more about our auditions here, and sign up here.

We are so grateful for the opportunities we have been given, and for all of our wonderful supporters! We would not be here without you!

That’s all for now, but keep checking back here and on our social media- we have got some amazing things coming up!

Love, Samaa
